	VOLUNTEERS FOR ANIMALS

CATS CURRENTLY AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION AT THE SHELTER, PETCO AND FOSTER

With the opening of Petco in Batavia in September 2008, we have been able to adopt cats and kittens directly from the store. Petco has provided us with 6 cages, assists with the daily care and adoption of the cats. We are very grateful for the help the Petco staff have given to us to help promote adoption of shelter animals. It has been a huge success so far and we look forward to a long and happy relationship with the staff of the Batavia Petco Store. You can visit our cats and kittens at Petco anytime during their regular store hours. The store is located in the Target Plaza on Veteran's Memorial Highway in the Town of Batavia.

We have kittens and cats in foster homes either due to age or special needs/health issue. Kittens are available for adoption after 8 weeks of age - photos will be posted once the kittens are back at the Shelter and available for adoption. Cats that are available for adoption but are in foster homes typically have issues with Shelter Life. It is a stressful environment for even the best animal. If you are interested in any of our special foster animals, just drop us a note and we will be more than happy to provide more information and/or a meeting with the animal.

If a cat is at Petco, in the description instead of the cage # it will say "Petco." If the cat is in foster, it will state "Foster Home." All other cats are available at the Shelter (below is a link to our hours and location). Please bring a carrier to take your new kitty home.

					Kelly Tiger DSH Adult/Spayed Female Cage #66 Kelly has had a rough life so far but in spite of it, she is a nice girl. She purrs and makes biscuits at the touch of your hand!

		Fred and Ethel are about 4 months old both spayed/neutered. They are huggable little kitties who need protection from the storm. They are in Cage #62.


	Have you ever considered microchipping your cat? If your cat is lost or stolen, microchipping is the best way to get them back home. House cats are especially vulnerable - read Chevy's story. We now offer microchipping on Sundays at the Shelter - click here for details.

	Shy Guy is the last in the litter to find a home. He is a little shy but has really done quite well in the Shelter and is now at Petco waiting for a home. He is neutered.		Speckles Torti DSH Adult/Spayed Female Petco Speckles is a recent mom back from foster. She is pretty sweet and laid back. She has few demands - just lots of love!




	Millie Tiger & White DSH Adult/Spayed Female Cage #88 Millie and her sister were abandoned in an apartment after someone moved away. She is about 8 months to a year old. Millie is a little shy but has really come around since coming to the shelter. She is always at the front of the cage begging for attention. She does not show well in the interaction room - way too many smells for her. But one-on-one, she is quite sweet.

					Angelina Tiger Adult/Spayed Female Petco Angelina came to us sick and down and out. She went to a foster home for lots of TLC. She is now back and ready to find a home of her own. She is not fond of dogs - so it must be a home with no dogs, please.




	Casey Calico DSH Adult/Spayed Female Cage #60 Casey has been with us a very long time. She is a cat with C-attitude, there is no doubt. Some of it maybe due to being kept in a cage for so long. She definitely wants to be your only cat. And she may not snuggle up to you but she will be a loyal and grateful companion.

					Billy Black DSH Baby/Neutered Male Petco Billy is kitty that came to us very sick with URI. He is blind out of his left eye due to the infection. He gets around fine and doesn't really care that he only has one good eye.




	Alex Black DSH Adult/Neutered Male Cage #68 Alex has been with us way too long. He wants his own place to run, play and sleep! Alex likes to reach his paw out at you when you walk by his cage. So far it has not worked in getting the attention of a human to take him home. He is an independent guy who has settled down but is still his own cat. He is frequently spotted in the shelter being carried around by a volunteer - he enjoys being waited on!

					Jewel Dilute Calico DSH Adult/Spayed Female Cage #80 Poor Jewel was dumped at feral cat colony. She is obviously a house cat and would never have survived there.

Fruity is very sweet and loving. Her family was moving and could not take her. She is good with children.




					Roadrunner Black DSH Baby/Neutered Male Cage #85 Roadrunner is a sleek black kitty. He is playful and lively. He has been with us awhile. He is a little shy at first but he really loves attention.

	Oscar Gray and White Tiger DSH Young/Neutered Male Foster Home Oscar is a little on the scared side. He needs a quiet home and patient human. He would do best in a small room to slowly adjust to his new surroundings. He has been with us a very long time and probably is just too comfortable with a small cage.

	Sissy and Missy Black and White DSH Baby/Spayed Female Lobby Condo Sissy and Missy were born 4/18/10 along with 5 other siblings. They have been at the shelter awhile. They are very playful and lively. Their favorite thing to do is run into the interaction room to jump and play while the humans clean their cage. They have been handled by tons of humans - so they are extremely well socialized. They would both do wonderful in a busy household.


			Teddy is a very special little guy. Someone found him along side the road unable to walk. Animal Control took him in and then had him checked out by the vet. Teddy most likely has cerebellar hypoplasia. His back legs are wobbly so he has trouble motoring around. But he is able to get in and out of his litter box, eat and drink from his dish and greet you at his cage door. He adores people and is an extremely loving kitten. He will need a special family to look after him and make sure he is safe. The best situation would be a home with no stairs and not a lot of commotion. Teddy is currently in a foster home. 	Snowball White DSH Adult/Spayed/Declawed Female Ask at the Desk Snowball is about 5 years old and probably deaf. She is very sweet but timid. The other cats in the household were picking on her. She will need a loving and patient human with a calm home life. She should not go to a home with children.

					Regin Black DSH Adult/Neutered Male Cage #86 Regin is about 3 years old. He loves to be petted and his motor is in tip top condition. It starts right up with the first gentle touch of a hand. Regin enjoys giving you "chin scratches" where he rubs his chin on yours - he is quite a gentle guy.

	Plethora, Polly and Streaky 1 Torti and 2 Tabby DSH Baby/Spayed Female Kitty Kottage These girls just moved into Kitty Kottage - check out the big eyes! The torti and one tabby have extra toes - they think it makes them extra special. But Streaky begs to differ. You know how siblings can be - we think they are all special. Plethora, the torti, has gone home.




	Savannah White DLH Adult/Female Cage #65 Savannah came to us with a very bad upper respiratory infection. She is finally over it and ready to break out of this place. She is friendly and playful.

					Kristy Black DSH Adult/Female Cage #67 Kristy is a stray. She has a lot of hair loss most likely due to fleas. She has gotten her flea treatment and now gets good food and lots of love.

	Creampuff Buff DSH / Cage #82 Neutered male introvert seeking understanding family of introverts. My name is Creampuff, and my foster mom says that my purrer is broke. I think she's just going deaf. I am looking for a special family to love me and know that I love them, even if I don't show it right away. Mom says I am kind and gentle and wouldn't hurt a flea (or was it a fly?). By the way - Creampuff has been purring up a storm here at the Shelter.
			Alvin Black DSH Baby/Male Cage #69 Poor Alvin was dumped at the door of the Shelter. Lucky for him, a volunteer spotted him before he melted in the sun. He is a nice guy who deserves better than that. But he is in a safe place now. Now he just needs that special family to walk through the doors to carry him home!

	Socks & Stripes Tabby and Tiger DSH Baby/Neutered Male Lobby Condos Socks and Stripes are back from foster. They come from a busy foster home with children and other cats - so they come prepared for anything. They are both nice guys just waiting for you!
