IMPORTANT FYI - UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

As of Saturday, 8/8 - The Shelter will open for regular adoption hours. Cat and dogs are back in the building. Construction continues to move along on the dog “adoption” side of the building. All dogs will be temporarily housed on the “stray” side of the building. Any dogs available for adoption can be met after an application is completed and approved. There are temporary fenced in dog runs available in order to meet dogs.

As of Monday, 5/18 - We are excited to announce that as of May 11, 2026, a major renovation project has officially begun at the Genesee County Animal Shelter. While we look forward to the improvements this will bring to our facility, we anticipate several challenges during the construction phase. We truly appreciate your continued support and patience as we navigate this transition.

As with any construction project, we anticipate changes to the schedule and public access to the Shelter. We will attempt to keep you updated via our website and Facebook page.

Additionally, due to serious storage constraints during construction, we are limiting our donations to a temporary "Construction Wish List."
