Adoption Procedures

Adoption Procedures

There is a $60 NON-REFUNDABLE FEE for all animals which needs to be cash or a check - NO CREDIT CARDS. If the animal is not spayed or neutered there is a $35 REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT upon proof of surgery. An adoption application must be filled out at the Shelter by the person wishing to adopt the animal. Once the application has been reviewed and approved the potential adopter may visit and meet any of the animals. All cats must leave the Shelter in a cat carrier. Please bring a cat carrier.

If a cat is at Petco, it will state it in the description. All other cats are available at the Shelter. You can visit our cats and kittens at Petco anytime during their regular store hours. Adoption applications are available at Petco for the cats residing at Petco. The store is located in the Target Plaza on Veteran's Memorial Highway in the Town of Batavia.

Kiki is a 6 year old spayed female Torbie DSH. She is a very friendly girl who came from a home with children and other cats.

Chase is a 9 year old neutered male Black DSH. Pumpkin is a 10 year old spayed female Calico DSH. Both cats are declawed. They have always been together. They came into the Shelter very scared and nervous but are slowly adjusting to Shelter life. Both cats are said to be sweet and friendly once they have gotten to know you. Chase enjoys being brushed and Pumpkin likes to play with toys. Neither cat has dog experience. Both cats are in need of dentals which will be arranged and paid for by Volunteers For Animals.

Working Cats

Periodically we get cats into the Shelter that are just not cut out for living in a home. They are happiest living outdoors. Some may be fearful of humans or have behavioral issues that make it impossible to live indoors. Regardless of the issue these cats, when given the right “home,” can live happy and productive lives. If you have a barn, stable, workshop, or warehouse you can save a life while receiving companionship and potentially expert, environmentally-friendly rodent control!

If you are interested in talking with a volunteer about adopting a working cat, please email us at info@vol4animals.org and include a phone number that we can reach you at.
